In this article, we will focus on the pre-built ways for you to maximize the marketing benefits of custom content.
Custom Content is an important part of selling parts online. It allows you to add your touch to your site to make it stand out from your competition. It also enables you to establish yourself as a knowledgeable leader in your industry and build brand authority.
The RevolutionParts platform is designed to allow you to create and update custom content quite easily. By posting valuable content regularly will assist in causing your audience to increasingly rely on you for information and Search Engines always appreciate sites that have custom content.
Custom Content alone should not be considered your sole strategy to boost sales. A strategy (such as paid search, email campaigns, etc) should be in place so you can meet your business goals, which your Customer Success Manager has all the tools to help you meet those.
Product Pages
A good product page can help you keep visitors on your pages longer which can convert into more sales. Below are a few items to consider when working on your product pages.
- Unique product descriptions
- Unique product titles
- Upload a product image
- Provide links to useful articles and install instructions
Unique Product Descriptions:
By default, our catalog data will have a standard product description for all of your products. A good way to beef up the product page is to add a unique description. Unique descriptions not only help describe the product in more detail to your customer, but it also helps with unique content on the product pages (for SEO).
To upload your own description you can navigate to the product itself via the Products tab. From there, search for the product #, select the product and add your custom description there. You can also bulk upload the descriptions for multiple parts as well (link to steps below).
Unique Product Title:
There are two different ways this can be updated. 1) Navigate to the product itself via the Products tab. From there, search for the product #, select the product and add your custom title to the Title box. 2) Use the bulk tool to upload multiple parts.
NOTE: Make sure that your product titles have the part number and Product Title.

Customizable Fields:
There are certain fields in the product page of each part that is customizable (title, description, and image). You can edit the existing fields in each one of the product pages anytime you see fit.
For example, a part titled Brake Pad can be changed to "Brake Pad 2014 Ford Focus" which allows the customer to know right away they are buying the right (or wrong) part.
Like the example above, there are many other ways you can start naming your parts in order to establish your brand. Your customers will start to see a pattern and come back and start to come back to your site because they know what to expect.
Images are also a great way to boost your brand authority and build trust. It is more likely that a customer will place an order on an item that has an image, than on one that does not. Although we already offer a great number of images across all catalogs, we also allow our clients to edit and upload custom images via the back-end of our platform. Feel free to utilize this feature to your advantage. You can take pictures of the parts you are selling and upload them right from your mobile device by going to manage.revolutionparts.com and navigating to that specific SKU.

Categories and Search Pages
Another easy way to create custom content on your site is by creating Categories or Search Pages.
Categories: Categories are a quick way to link show part #'s in a specific category as all that needs to be done is 1) create a category 2) attach the product to that category. This category can then be listed on the homepage via the header /menu and linked to that specific category.
Note: Categories can have up to 4 subcategories.
Example: you create a page for obsolete parts and call it "Clearance". From the back-end, you can then assign products to that category so when your customers click on it from the homepage, they only see those products. The Support team can help you make it stand up, so don't hesitate to reach out to them for help.
Search Pages: There are 3 was these can be used.
- Filters - Adding the make, model and year will reflect parts for what was entered.
- Categories - Any category built within our platform can be added. However, custom categories are unable to be added at this time. When adding a category, the search page will list parts that have been attached to that category.
- Search Terms - Similar to categories, this allows you to use terms such as "brake pad or floor mats". The system then searches the catalog for that term and matches any words that contain those key word or a portion of those words. However the most similar matches are listed first.
Any of these methods can be combined within Search Pages and are great way to quickly create new custom pages on your site.
