In states where RevolutionParts has either an economic nexus or physical nexus, we are required to charge our customers taxes for applicable services we provide. As we continue to reach nexus in more states, more customers will be subject to these sales taxes. If you are in a state where RevolutionParts has a nexus, applicable sales tax will be automatically added onto your monthly invoice.
Q: Why Am I Being Charged Sales Tax?
Due to having a nexus in your state, RevolutionParts is required to collect, report, and remit the applicable sales tax for the products and services we provide.
Q: Why Is RevolutionParts Collecting Sales Tax Now?
Like every business in the U.S., RevolutionParts was affected by the 2018 Supreme Court in South Dakota v. Wayfair. After carefully reviewing our compliance under the various state tax laws and the thresholds for economic nexus, we are now taking this action.
Q: In Which States Does RevolutionParts Collect Sales Tax?
As of August 19th, 2020, RevolutionParts collects sales tax in AZ, CT, ID, MA, OH, PA, RI, TX, UT, and WA.* If you are in one of these states, you will be charged sales tax on RevolutionParts' services.
* This list may expand to additional states in the future.
Q: Are My Local Deliveries Tax Exempt?
Generally yes.
Our customers typically use Local Delivery to sell parts & delivery to another party (such as a collision shop, repair shop, or consumer). In that case, you are responsible for collecting the applicable sales tax since you are reselling both the physical item (part) and the service (delivery) to another party. To take advantage of Local Delivery tax exemption, send us a resale certificate / tax exempt certificate to ar@revolutionparts.com and we will no longer add sales tax to your Local Delivery line items on your monthly invoice.
Q: Will I Be Taxed For Marketing Services?
States have different rules for different categories. In some states SaaS services (software as a service) are taxable, but in other states they are not. In most states, marketing services are not taxable.
