What are automation rules?
Automation rules provide automated communication to your customers via email or SMS when specified status changes take place on their RevolutionParts orders. By using automation rules, you’ll save time sending messages back and forth with customers about things like status updates or shipping times.
Examples of automated messages that can be set up include:
- An order is ready to ship
- An order has been canceled
- The expected shipping time has changed to 10-15 days
How to Create a New Automation
Automation rules will be created from your automation page, found at the top of your settings menu.
You’ll add a new automation and then choose when you want it to be sent and what template should be used for it.
Templates are created and managed through the Templates page found in your Settings menu.
Sample Automation: Missing VIN
Watch the video below to set up an automation rule asking customers for missing VINs. Save time and skip the manual effort with automated reminders that instantly prompt customers to provide missing VINs.
Sample Automation: When an Order is Ready to Ship
You can automatically let a customer know that their order is ready to ship using an Automation Rule. After creating a new automation, you can choose from the dropdown items under the “When this Happens” section and select “Order,” “Order Status,” “Changes to,” and “Ready to Ship,” as seen below.
You can decide if you want to send the message right away or wait a specified period of time.
You can also add conditions, such as only sending the automated message if the order subtotal is greater than $20, as seen below.
Finally, you’ll choose how to communicate the update to your customer (email or SMS) and what template should be used.
That’s it! From now on, all customers with orders over $20 that are ready to ship will receive an email letting them know. You can make similar rules for actions like a canceled order, a change to a shipping time, or a missing VIN.
