NOTE: These steps are only for domains that have been purchased (this article explains the process through Go Daddy, but most registrars are very similar)

 


 

IF YOU ARE USING A SEPARATE DOMAIN FROM THE DEALERSHIP SITE:

After you purchase your domain you will need to change your nameservers. Change your nameservers to the following: 

Within Go Daddy follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Account Manager.
  • Next to Domains, click Manage.

Which procedure you'll use depends on the number of domains in your account:

IF YOUR GODADDY ACCOUNT HAS 6 DOMAINS OR FEWER:

  • Select the domain name you want to use, click Text Icon (Settings) and select Manage DNS.
  • Click the Settings tab.
  • Under Nameservers, click Manage.
  • Under Setup type, select Custom.
  • Click Enter custom nameservers.
  • Enter the four custom nameservers (provided above) and click OK.

MORE THAN 6 DOMAINS (ie. 7 or more domains):

  • Select the domain names you want to modify.
  • From the Nameservers menu, select Set Nameservers.
  • Under Setup type, select Custom.
  • Click Enter custom nameservers.
  • Enter the four custom nameservers (provided above) and click OK.

 


 

IF YOU ARE USING A SUBDOMAIN OF YOUR DEALERSHIP SITE:

Create a new subdomain on your dealership domain through your GoDaddy account.  Typical subdomains include, "parts," "partsdepartment," "onlineparts," etc.  A subdomain will look like this: "parts.mydealership.com" or "onlineparts.mydealership.com"

 

Create a CNAME record on your primary domain and point it to the following address:

  • SHOP.REVPARTS.NET

Save the record to complete the DNS changes.

 

PLEASE NOTE: A subdomain replaces the normal "www" in a web address, so the domain will NOT be, "www.parts.mydealership.com."  There is no "www" in a subdomain setup.

 


 

After updating your nameservers, allow up to 24 to 48 hours for nameservers to propagate (process), during which your site may or may not be accessible. Propagation usually finishes much sooner, though (within a few hours). If you still have questions or can not complete setup, contact the GoDaddy technical support team for further assistance.
